Trinity College grounds on a beautiful sunny day

This half-day event is an opportunity for clergy and lay people to be enriched by the readings from Mark and elsewhere in the Bible for the forthcoming Church Year B.

For clergy, this is a study day, providing you with resources for preaching, worship and ministry, commencing on Advent Sunday. For lay people, this is a wonderful opportunity to explore the Bible, discover its riches and deepen your spirituality.

There will be plenty of opportunity for reflection, input and discussion.

The day’s leaders:

The Revd Dr Robert (Bob) Derrenbacker is the Dean of the Trinity College Theological School, where he is also the Frank Woods Associate Professor in New Testament. Bob undertook his theological studies in Canada, including a PhD, at the University of Toronto. He has held a number of positions at Canadian universities, and prior to joining Trinity College Theological School was President of Thorneloe University in Sudbury, Ontario. He has a wide range of research interests including the Synoptic gospels.

Dr Rachelle Gilmour is Bromby Senior Lecturer in Old Testament at the Trinity College Theological School. She has published two books and a number of articles on the books of Samuel, Kings and Jeremiah and is an editor for the Journal for the Study of the Old Testament and the Review of Biblical Literature. Her current book project is titled ‘Divine Violence in the Book of Samuel’. Rachelle is also a member of St James' Old Cathedral in West Melbourne.
