Trinity College grounds on a beautiful sunny day

Over the past 15 years or so, fresh expressions of church and pioneer ministry have been commended to the church as crucial for handing on Christian faith in contemporary culture, and for securing an intergenerational future for Anglicanism. A local example in Melbourne of such pioneering is Merri Creek Anglican, and this continuing education session welcomes its pastor, Peter Carolane, to share the story of its growth, introduce the convictions that have formed it, and identify the challenges of pioneer ministry in Melbourne. Joining him in discussion is Bishop Lindsay Urwin, the Vicar of Christ Church, Brunswick. This discussion will be moderated by Bishop Kate Prowd.

The Revd Dr Peter Carolane is the Minister of Merri Creek Anglican, a church planted in 2013.  Peter is an entrepreneurial church leader, communicator, and musician who seeks to make the Christian faith relevant for inner-city people by leading teams that pioneer new forms of ministry, mission and worship.

The Right Revd Lindsay Urwin OGS is the Vicar of Christ Church Brunswick.  He has served as the area Bishop of Horsham in the Diocese of Chichester and was the Administrator of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham.  Prior to returning to Melbourne from England, he was for some time on the National Board of Fresh Expressions, a movement to recognise and provide for re-imagined church communities seeking to work with changing culture and those not yet attending church.

The Right Revd Kate Prowd is the bishop of the Oodthenong area of episcopal care in the Diocese of Melbourne.
