Year of Luke Day at Trinity Theological School

On Saturday 14 November, the Trinity College Theological School will run a Year of Luke Day, providing you with resources for Year C of the lectionary.

Luke provides us with a wonderfully optimistic vision of the resurrection and the Holy Spirit lying at the very centre of the life of the Church. His gospel has a particular focus on prayer, social justice, hospitality and community.

Led by our Faculty experts in Bible, church history, leadership and liturgy, this study day will provide resources for preaching, worship and ministry for the coming Church year. While designed for a general audience, it will be valuable continuing development for all clergy and worship leaders.

The Dean of the Theological School, Dorothy Lee, will provide a detailed commentary on Luke’s gospel during the morning sessions, while in the afternoon, you will be able to choose one of four workshops:

  • Spirit and Church in Luke-Acts (with Don Saines)
  • Once More, Jesus and the Jews: Church and Israel through Luke's Eyes (with Mark Lindsay)
  • ‘I am among you as one who serves’ (Lk 22:27): Leadership & Service (with Cecilia Francis)
  • ‘Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me’ (Lk 9:48): Children & Worship (with Stephen Burns and Jazz Dow).

Participants are welcome to join us at 5pm for the Theological School’s Valedictory Eucharist in the College Chapel at the conclusion of the day.
